Periods of changing moods, low self-esteem, worries and insecurity mixed with happiness, energy and enjoying life is part of being a teenager.
If difficult thoughts, sadness, insecurity or concerns become overwhelming, then it can be important to seek professional help. It often takes courage to talk to someone who you do not know, yet the teenagers that I have spoken to frequently say how relieved they are when they seek help. They feel they gain a different perspective; it makes their life feel easier and their thoughts about their future more positive.
I have worked with teenagers dealing with anxiety, including exam anxiety, sadness, depression, problems with parents, school, friends, concerns about the future and teenagers coping with parents who are separating.
